42nd Annual Great Computer Challenge

Registration for the 2027 Great Computer Challenge will open November, 2026!

Senior Competition (Grades 6-12) - March 27, 2027 (registration deadline: February 12, 2027)

Junior Competition (Grades K-5) - May 1, 2027 (registration deadline:  March 19, 2027)

There are several steps to the registration process.  PLEASE READ!

  1. Fill out the Great Computer Challenge Worksheet for each team. This is optional.  It is an easy way for you to gather all of the data needed. 
  2. Once your worksheet is complete, please fill out the same information on the Online Registration Form. We really need the online form completed!  One team per submission. You can copy and paste most of the data right over to the form.   (If you have multiple teams to submit,  please email gcc@whro.org with your basic data such as your school, address, coach, phone, etc. and we will email you a link to with the pre-filled data.)
  3. Please mail or email a copy of the worksheet with payment information to gcc@whro.org or WHRO/CII, 5200 Hampton Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23508. If you are paying by credit card, go to the payment page at education.whro.org/gccpayment to make your payment.

Registration Fee
Your school division must be a C.I.I. Member or C.I.I. Service Participant (click to see the membership roster) to participate in the Great Computer Challenge. If you are not a member and would like to find out how to become a member, please contact angela.franklin@whro.org.

Levels 1-3

  • $45 (C.I.I. Member)
  • $85 (C.I.I. Service Participant)

Level 4

  • $55 (C.I.I. Member)
  • $95 (C.I.I. Service Participant)

$50 late fee/team postmarked or submitted online after registration deadlines

No registrations will be accepted after February 19, 2027 for the senior competition or after March 26, 2027 for the junior competition.

What is the cancellation policy? A full refund will be issued up until the following dates:
Senior competition - February 19, 2027
Junior competition - March 26, 2027
Please send an email to gcc@whro.org to let us know you need to cancel your team registration. After these dates, no refund will be issued.
