Student Advisory Board
WHRO’s Student Advisory Board (SAB) is made up of high school students from our local owner-member school divisions. These students help us better meet the needs of the audience using our online content. WHRO values the SAB's perspectives and voice. Watch this video to hear how the students feel about being part of the SAB:

Meeting 1, September 2025
Use the arrows to explore images from the September 2025 Student Advisory Board (SAB) meeting. Returning and new members got to know each other through a “snapshot” game. Then, they watched an episode of WHRO’s eco-adventure through space: Intergalactic Goodspeed. The students provided valuable feedback on the video and suggested ways teachers can use it to educate middle schoolers on Environmental Science. Finally, the SAB launched a year-long podcast project that will have them creating content for WHRO Education’s new Algebra I online course.

Use the arrows to explore images from the 2024-2025 SAB meetings. Students participated in an array of activities to support WHRO. For example, they created scenarios for Health and PE interactivities, planned PSAs about safe uses of the Internet and social media for peers across the Commonwealth, and provided valuable feedback on interactive health games created for middle schoolers by the VDOE and WHRO education. They also designed a new SAB logo and established stronger relationships with each other through a team-building outing.
