Journalism students from the Media Arts and Design (MAD) Academy at Bethel High School will host a Vaping Awareness Campaign on Saturday, January 24, from 12–1 p.m.
The event will take place in the Bethel High School auditorium, located at 1067 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666. The event is open to the community.
This student-led initiative will feature a panel discussion with local community leaders representing law enforcement, health sciences, and student voice, including a powerful student testimony. The goal of this project is to educate, inform, and engage the community in meaningful dialogue about the impact of vaping on youth and public health.
“This campaign allows our student journalists to research a real-world issue, engage with community experts, and lead a public conversation that matters,” said Ms. Lowery, Journalism Teacher at Bethel High School. “It’s authentic journalism with purpose.”
The Vaping Awareness Campaign reflects the MAD Academy’s commitment to student voice, civic engagement, and real-world media production. Community members, families, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and support student-led journalism.
