Suffolk Public Schools Announces STEM Academy at Booker T. Washington Elementary School

Suffolk Public Schools recently announced the launch of The STEM Academy at Booker T. Washington Elementary. This innovative academy will cater to students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade, emphasizing a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The academy is a part of ODU’s Lab School Network, a program that aims to bring hands-on STEM education to Virginia schools. The Lab School focuses on community- and field-based learning to address real-world issues, preparing students for an innovative and STEM-focused future.

Students are accepted into the academy through an open lottery system with 20 students accepted in each grade level.
