For the past 17 years, grants, local foundations and the WHRO Leadership Circle have provided the support to allow children in challenging circumstances to start their own libraries.  Tens of thousands of First Books have been distributed to area children who would otherwise not own books through this initiative.

Books are distributed after parent trainings and at school and community events.  If you'd like to donate books, simply bring them to the WHRO offices at 5200 Hampton Boulevard marked "Attention: Children's Services" and leave them with our receptionist.
