Have you heard the big news? WHRO is celebrating a milestone as eMediaVA, our digital media distribution service, now includes over 100,000 educational resources for classrooms!

With resources available in multiple languages, all aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning, WHRO continues to expand its offerings of education content that appeals to digital native students across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

New content is now available in all educational subject and topic areas to PreK-12 teachers and students in a variety of formats from videos and primary source documents to interactive games and animations. Some of the most recent content we’ve added comes from the Valentine Richmond History Center, Bruton Parish Church and the World Affairs Council.

What’s even better, with support from the Virginia Department of Education and philanthropic contributors, we’re able to deliver eMediaVA free of charge. Every Virginia educator and student has access to a wide variety of prominent national and local sources including PBS, NPR, The Jim Henson Company, the Virginia Department of Education, Old Dominion University, Colonial Williamsburg, the Science Museum of Virginia, NASA, the Smithsonian Museums, the National Archives, Virginia's public media stations and SAS Curriculum Pathways.

eMediaVA is also constantly evolving to meet the needs of Virginia’s educators. Version 2.2.1 was just released with many new accessibility features, including closed captioning, alternate language and transcript options.

We believe that eMediaVA features the best purpose built, educational content available, and we look forward to expanding further and adding even more new resources. To learn more about eMediaVA, please visit emediava.org or subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
